Jack and Eddie Calvert

In his early working career Jack repaired musical instruments - wood, wind and brass.  No doubt many of his model making talents were sparked by this precision work.  He mentioned that he was regularly called down to repair/service the Eddie Calvert's trumpet.

Eddie Calvert was described as the 'Man with the Golden Trumpet' but as Jack pointed out to me it was only brass.  He would check and repair any values whilst Eddie waited downstairs.  

Eddie Calvert was a regular performer in the 1950s with number one hits in the UK and US with his trumpet solos and band numbers.

Jack went on to work at Boosey and Hawkes before moving into local government.  All the while working on his Jacklex range and later 54mm figures.
